As co-producer or associate producer
"Shopping" - Have you ever regretted a missed opportunity for love?
Some background...
My association with director and screen writer Will Kuether was fixed when he attended Screen Writers' meetings through the Australian Writers' Guild. Founded in 2009, we would meet regularly, sometimes only five of us, sometimes eight or nine, at "Toast" café or at AWG headquarters in Surry Hills (Sydney) to discuss each others works in progress.
Peter A. Cross was a founding member as was Jini Liljeqvist and Pam Morrissey, who trained it in from the Southern Highlands. others would come and go but the five of us comprised the core.
Peter presented his original "Shopping" script, which he and I revised until it was 'ready' (we thought). Peter then presented "Shopping" to Will who re-revised it. Finally ready, Will gathered together his production team headed by producer, Melissa Azizi, and "Shopping" was filmed over weekend nights in a supermarket in Bexley (Sydney, NSW). The end result was a short film about missed opportunities, which was to be selected by an impressive list of film festivals around the world. I am credited as Associated Producer.
Pamela (Pam) Morrissey and Jennie Dibley had acting credits. Jennie also was a cast member of the very successful "Lots More Funny Business" (1999) and "Life is a Funny Business" (2000) cabaret/revue stage musicals presented by the New Theatre in Newtown, for which I was co-writer.

Peter and I went on to write the lyrics to "Another Night" (AKA "The Gaydar Song") with Simon Gillespie, helping me to produce or revise many other scripts, some of which are presented in these pages.
Will Kuether directed "House of Horace" promo shorts on very, very short notice and did a fantastic job, for which I am eternally grateful to him.

Ruby (2015)

Synopsis...
Today Abbie is going to steal back her child Ruby. Problem is, she doesn't know what Ruby looks like. Both mother and child were separated five years ago. Will they still know each other? Abbie thinks so. This short film is a culmination of real-life stories from women about their situations; their thoughts and feelings around forced adoption, in both the past and present. The film also raises questions about modern day adoption. Above all, it delves deep into the bond between mother and child and what happens when it is broken.
--Matthew Graham
Written and directed by Matthew Graham, I was involved as co-producer with Emma Conroy.
